Recently I was given a bottle of LdT by a loved one and it instantly brought back halcyon memories of my late grandmother.

Really vintage smelling but I don't find it an old lady scent (but I like them as well for some reason), it's a really rich flowery warm-spicy smell for early spring. There's a nice powdery-soapy accord in there but it wears very lightly, only a tad better than a body spray. I wore this for the first time during the spring, the aldehydes were really apparent in cool, sunny spring weather.

Here, the cloves and spices also become really apparent to me, without really losing anything else in the composition. Unfortunately, and although I wanted to love this classic, I prefer Afshan de Rasasi instead, which is excellent value for money. This time, I was sure to use the cardboard testers for the body sprays:/ I picked up a very pleasant, light, clean fragrance as I was trying out the testers, but I couldn’t match it. Although I'd like to have this as a potential signature scent, in my mind it will always remind me of her, Clarice Starling, and the grace and fortitude of the women who endured WWII. Bergamot and rosewood support the development of the carnation theme, refined with the notes of rose and jasmine.The iconic L’Air du Temps carnation bouquet is filled with an airy freshness, highlighting the brightness of white musk. With top notes of carnation and gardenia, middle notes of rose and jasmine and base notes of orris and Mysore sandalwood. This has the dankness of the oakmoss in Mitsouko and the indolic notes of Joy while still maintaining a completely clean palate. One of those perfumes that needs to blend in with your soul rather than built you into an image of desire.
