Description

After serving as a teacher in Yozgat for one year, he earned a fellowship from the Ministry of National Education and studied in Germany from 1928 to 1930. Yet when Raif dies in poverty-stricken circumstances surrounded by bickering family, his diary comes to light.

recreates a vanished era and dramatises a doomed relationship, and does so with verve, depth and poignancy. In Turkey, meanwhile, Ali’s death continues to overshadow his life, in much the same way as his life overshadows his work – and with good reason. He was born in 1907 in Eğridere township (now Ardino in southern Bulgaria) of the Sanjak of Gümülcine (now Komotini in northern Greece), in the Ottoman Empire. His least acclaimed novel has become Turkey’s most celebrated love story today because it refuses the traditional gender roles that Turkey’s president seems hell-bent on enforcing, not just in the religious heartlands but also in the cities and towns that have been secularising, and liberalising, for almost a century. It's about this quiet guy, Raif, a quiet dreamer who favored the realms of his imagination over the concrete world, falling in love with a woman in a painting.

He has lost his will to live, and eventually marries a woman that she doesn't like, and lives with her in between the furniture he bought for Maria. He is so impressed by the woman in the portrait that after that day, he starts coming back to the exhibition until the painter, Maria Puder, introduces herself to Raif.

These were seen (and perhaps intended) to refer to the leader of the single party state, İsmet Pasha.

However, it is commonly believed that Ali died while being interrogated by the National Security Service, and that Ertekin, with whom the service had links, was chosen to take the blame. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously.

The narrator picks up the notebook, reads a few sentences and asks Raif if he can borrow it for a day. Emotionally powerful, intensely atmospheric and touchingly profound, Madonna in a Fur Coat is an unforgettable novel about new beginnings and the unfathomable nature of the human soul. There, he finds out that Maria was quite ill, and since her mother left their home to go to Prague, she was hospitalized. the story conveyns the depth and complexity of human mind and feelings, mystery of love, doubts and loneliness. He moved from Ankara to Istanbul, to be drawn into the struggle against the fascists then dominating Turkey’s single party state. The works for which he was most admired in his time were imbued by his dreams for the common man, and rooted in his knowledge of the injustices they suffered.
