About this deal

Heresy (denying the truth of the Redemption, or working against Redemptionists or worst of all worshiping Chaos) Players can only choose to invoke Articles of Faith from the Path of Faith chosen by their gang’s Leader. There are 4 to choose from, and each path has 6 Articles to Invoke: Chain Glaive [Word-Keeper, Firebrand]: If you’re making a melee Word-Keeper or (Emperor forbid) Firebrand, this is probably the best weapon for the job. It hits hard, is Versatile, and does decent damage. Can’t go wrong. Rating: B Emperor’s Wrath Rounds: This ammo turns the Blunderbuss into the less-good side of the Combat Shotgun, which is good, but at 35 credits, it is far too pricey for what it does. It’s a better idea to give your blunderpolers a Reclaimed Autogun if you want them to have more of a ranged threat. Redemptionist beliefs are based on the Imperial Creed, which holds that mankind is ruled and guided by the Emperor. While the Imperial Creed has definite militant overtones, the Redemption has taken it one stage further.

When numerous Redemptionist cult members come together without the leadership of a religious figure such as a Redemptor priest, a fanatical mob can form.Lots of bodies? I've read thats a big Cawdor strength, and the new rule about getting extra boys at the beginning is really cool. Frontline News", White Dwarf 194 (UK), pg. 37, White Dwarf 195 (UK), pg. 26, White Dwarf 196 (UK), pg. 62 On the battlefield, a Deacon will fill a very similar roll to that of a Firebrand, but with a little extra punch. The Fanatical Fervour ability seems really good, but we need to remember that this is a WS 4+ character, so there’s a little bit of disconnect between what this fighter is actually going to be doing on the tabletop most of the time. That being said, the Deacon has access to the mostly excellent Piety skill tree (more on that later!), making them somewhat less dissonant than their Pious counterparts. Archdeacon Ludmillan is a self-styled leader of the Redemption in the Calixis Sector, who has crushed those who oppose her with ruthless efficiency. To cement her spiritual rulership, Ludmillan released a number of dictates to which all those true and pure should adhere to: A Redemptionist is a fanatical priest of the Adeptus Ministorum who follows an extreme and unforgiving doctrine of the Imperial Creed in which redemption in the eyes of the God-Emperor can only be found in death.

Choke Gas Grenades [Word-Keeper, Redemptor Priest, Firebrand, Deacon]: Interesting, but really too expensive to be worth it. Rating: DThe Cult originated in the violent Underhives of Necromunda, where the original Redemptionists saw the lives of toil of the hive inhabitants, the unreachable luxury of the nobles and the violent anarchy of the Underhive and concluded that they were in a living hell. Rules-wise, you’re looking at the mirror image of the Word-Keeper, with all the regular Leader abilities. A Redemptor Priest is a Fanatical fighter, meaning they count towards the Outlaw element of a Cawdor gang. As above, your Redemptor Priest must choose a Path of Faith when they’re recruited. Primary skills are Combat, Leadership, and the new Piety skills, with secondaries being Brawn, Ferocity, and Shooting. Brethren are usually well-armed but with simpler weapons than those available to the Redemptor priest or their deacons. Greatsword [Word-Keeper, Firebrand, Cawdor Brethren]: +1 Strength, AP-1, Versatile 1”, Sever, and +1 to hit. What’s not to love? Curiously, a model with this weapon doesn’t exist in the Cawdor range at time of publication, but maybe we’ll see it in an upgrade sprue? Here’s hoping, because this weapon whips ass! Rating: A

Each Path has 6 attached Articles of Faith. They vary widely in scope and effect, but they can easily be used to swing the course of a battle. Frankly, this system is extremely well done. All of the Paths are useful, and almost every power is worth it if you can get it to go off. These are some of the most fun and dynamic rules for Necromunda we’ve seen since the Book of Peril , and we are so excited to use these in our games! Finally, each Article comes with a quote from the creed of Redemption that you can exclaim while you’re using it in game! So fun! Recommended equipment: Chainaxe with exterminator, Eviscerator, cheapo pistols, Book of Redemption, mesh armor, cherub-servitors. Fire Pike [Redemptor Priest, Deacon, Redemptionist Brethren]: No, it’s not a long-range melta gun like Aeldari Fire Dragons have. Sheesh, if only. It’s a slightly-upgraded flamer for 10 more credits. It gets a little bit of a boost, here as Redemptionists can’t take blunderpoles, but it’s still awfully pricey for what it does. Rating: C+

The Redemptor priest is the lynchpin of any Cult of Redemption's crusade to cleanse Heretics, xenos or witches. They are the inspirational figure the brethren follow to test their faith. Gangs who follow the Path of the Doomed tend to power up as they start losing members, and have the outright best Article of Faith: “And by the manner of his Death did the Emperor judge him!” If this article is invoked, the fighter makes a normal move and then explodes in a 5” blast template, immediately going Out of Action. Perfect for those speedy and expendable juves! I’m sure the other paths are cool or whatever, but after reading that, what more do you need to know? Doomed 4 lyfe. Weapons and Wargear Basic Weapons

Scavenger’s Eye: +1 to any random roll for credit rewards at the end of a battle. This skill is on par with Fixer from the Savant tree for just being generally useful. Most scenarios involve some sort of credit reward, and this skill can pay huge dividends after just one Forgotten Riches game. An excellent choice for a ranged Deacon. The customary gas aura terrain piece (a la Escher Gas Censers or Van Saar Rad Casters) is the Hive Incense ; which causes nearby adjacent gangers to scatter. Always remember to wear your respirator, kids. Of particular interest to us is the Caged Heretic , who not only presents us with an amazing modeling opportunity, also forces nearby non-Cawdor to take a nerve test. In an interesting twist, opposing gangers can actually gain a bit of XP if they manage to free the hapless victim! Here’s how it works: at the end of each turn, roll a d6 for each friendly Cawdor ganger who’s not Seriously Injured or Broken and is on the board. Any results of 5+ are moved to the faith dice pool, where they can be used to invoke an Article of Faith. Each Article of Faith is invoked at the start of the fighter’s activation, and has a target value. The controlling player chooses how many faith dice to roll, and if the target value is met or exceeded, the Article of Faith is invoked. Faith dice can carry over from round to round, but faith dice that exceed the number of friendly Cawdor gangers that are on the board and not Seriously Injured or Broken are discarded at the end of the next turn. Adepta Sororitas players from 40k will recognize this system. Outlander (Novel), which gives a story of three House Cawdor gangs, and a sense of day to day Cawdor life Any time GW makes terrain for Necromunda it is a good day. It also lets us know that the game is being supported well! Highlights of the kit have to be the random exotic weapons and the MUNG VASE. The rest of the sprues have very cool components; most are integral to how the kits are intended to be built, but also some that could be used anywhere to add new details. Dylan is very excited that he didn’t finish his own trading post that he started building earlier this year. Now he has a source for even more grimdark bits and bobs! In Conclusion It is possible for both men and women to be a member of one of these cults, perhaps coming from an Ecclesiarchical monastic community dedicated to zealous Redemptionist doctrines. It is equally likely that a cardinal or Inquisitor had an individual trained as a Redemptionist from birth to serve in a specific capacity.
