While both feature 5 unique motions that bounce up and down and sway from side to side, just like parents do, the mamaRoo sleep bassinet and the mamaRoo infant seat have different uses to provide baby the comfort or entertainment they need. There is a slight whirring noise when the MamaRoo is moving but Luci didn’t find this disruptive. Does it have any extra features? Without the newborn insert, there is no additional head support which can make positioning for a younger baby a little more challenging. While she reported that her then 11-week-old fitted comfortably in the swing, Luci felt her baby’s feet would be over the end way before the expected six-month mark recommended by the brand. While our parent tester Luci would have expected more luxurious fabrics and a newborn insert included for the price, she found the range of motions and sounds to be very impressive. We think this bouncer would be particularly beneficial for parents who’s baby struggles to be put down, as this would allow some much-needed hands-free time. Having an infant in the house can mean you get nothing done. But there are still dishes to be washed, laundry to be folded and meals to cook, whether you have a newborn or a teenager.

What is the motion like?

There are four built-in sounds on the MamaRoo - specifically rain, ocean sounds, a fan sound and heartbeat, the latter of which can provide some familiar comfort to newborn babies. The sounds are relatively subtle and non-offensive, with an adjustable sound level that can be raised or lowered to suit your preferences via the app. Together, they are the perfect pair for new parents.
